Carlos Santana, Carlos Santana München.Devadip 2000 (Autlán the Navarro, 20 July 1947) is a Mexican guitarist. He became famous by Santana, the band that bears his name and been successful since the late sixties. The band was on the mix of Latin American instruments with the guitar of Carlos Santana.



santana biography was born in the Mexican Autlán Navarro (Jalisco). He came into contact with music early: his father played violin in a mariachi band. When he was eight years Santana began playing guitar. The family moved to Tijuana, where Santana played in clubs and bars, and early sixties the family moved to San Francisco.

In 1966 he was one of the founders of the Santana Blues Band. The band carried his name because it was required because of the musicians union to form a band named after the musical director. The band had no musical director, it was more of a collective. After a while the name was shortened to Santana and on June 16, 1968 the band made its debut at the Fillmore. In 1969, Carlos Santana on his debut album, The Live Adventures of Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper Mike Bloomfield and Al Kooper, where he played guitar on some tracks.

In the meantime, Santana was signed to Columbia Records and the band released a first album, called Santana. The band played at Woodstock, and spent the early seventies several successful albums and singles. In 1971, however, the band due to musical differences apart.

In 1972, Carlos Santana solo with Buddy Miles. That same year came from Caravanserai, the fourth album by the Santana band. The album was a new movement of the band towards fusion. There was Santana from then on no longer regular musicians (except Carlos), but contributions from guest musicians.

Influenced by guru Sri Chinmoy, he changed his name to Devadip Carlos Santana, meaning "the eye, the lamp and the light of God". Along with John McLaughlin, Mahavishnu Orchestra guitarist and co-disciple of Chinmoy, he released the album Love Devotion Surrender. In 1974 he collaborated with Turiya Alice Coltrane, the widow of John Coltrane.

During the seventies he released more albums with Santana, but success took off. In 1979 he released his first solo album, Oneness / Silver Dreams - Golden Reality. Later he changed albums of solo albums with the band. In 1987 he released the album Blues for Salvador, where he has a Grammy Award for Best Rock Instrumental Performance was. In 1990, Santana moved to a new label, Polydor, where he got his own label, Guts and Grace.

In 1999 Santana album Supernatural, which helps the hits Smooth and Maria Maria and cooperation with a number of successful artists (including Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, Eric Clapton, Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 and Everlast) became the largest hit of his career. Santana was from that moment in the spotlight. He continued this successful formula on his next album, Shaman from 2002 (including the hit The Game of Love with Michelle Branch) and All That I Am in 2005 (including Steven Tyler of Aerosmith). In 2007 he was featured on the hit Illegal Shakira. In 2007 he also worked with Chad Kroeger of Nickelback, together they brought the hit Into the Night.
